so i am thinking of flying down to mexico for a full body sculpting and lipo suction it is ranging in the price range of 5,000-6,000. they basically take all your fat out and put it where you want it. my great great aunt went and she looks great.
if it worked for her, will it work for me.
also, i have lost a lot of weight but i still have extra skin. this i think will ultimately make me content with myself.

serious answers please?

The old adage is you get what you paid for. Thats alot of work for such a low price, I would be vary wary of that type of "deal" when it comes to any kind of surgery. Often it’s cheaper because there aren’t as many regulations they have to follow. That makes the likelihood of permanent scarring, or much worse, a way higher possibility.

How much for plastic surgery? (Do you think)?

I’m talking about Maryland’s plastic surgery for the nose and boob implants.
I searched some sites but couldn’t find any price estimates.

Eww don’t get boob implants
why do you want to sport fake boobs?

I thought about getting nose augmented in the UK or the US but changed my mind to get it done in Thailand as it’s cheaper and apparently the quality is just as good. Have done my research on the best plastic surgeons in Bangkok but want to make sure who is the best of the best. Does anyone know? Thanks.

I really would suggest going to Bangkok and having consultations with the doctors you’re looking at. If that’s financially possible for you, I would really suggest it. That’s the only way you’re going to be able to know if that doctor is the right one for you. Credentials and reviews can help, but there’s nothing like a realy one on one meeting.

Why is plastic surgery expensive?

I mean expensive compared to most other things. You can buy a cream for your face for $20, yet if you want your nose to be slightly slimmer (which no one but yourself really cares about since people are too busy living their own lives), you have to pay around $5000. That’s just amazing to me, that these people can get away with their outrageous prices, which insurance doesn’t even cover. Even if you have a major operation, you most likely wouldn’t have to pay out of pocket fees that are THAT high.

I mean if it wasn’t expensive at all, our society would be in trouble since EVERYONE would be getting it, and we’d all be plastic people walking around.

Then again, that’s pretty much LA for you.

But I don’t get the expense. Can it be justified? I mean outside of hospital costs, anesthesia, etc. That alone is half the price or 1/3rd. I think the surgeons are BS"ing, it’s not that complicated of a surgery compared to heart surgery, etc, they just want to profit it seems.

"They just want to profit" - so doctors shouldn’t be allowed to make some money after putting all the time and money into training? Dang.

Surgeries are expensive because there are a lot of things and people you need to pay for. Anesthesia (btw, why not say it’s their fault for costs versus the surgeon huh??? They are doctors too). Hospital overhead and OR time. Supplies, etc.

Insurance doesn’t cover cosmetic surgery because the of the cost. Imagine the cost of premiums if insurance companies covered plastic surgeries! So few people would be able to afford insurance.

BTW, major operations cost more than that. If you don’t know, don’t comment.

Also, as for degree of difficulty, it’s relative. Lets see a cardiothoracic surgeon do a nose job and a plastic surgeon do a heart transplant. It would be difficult for both of them! They weren’t trained in every surgery.

and also can you go to an consoultation just for pricing if your not planning on haveing anything done for the next 6 months?

What happens w/plastic surgery financing is that the patient applies for financing through a medical finance company and you make payments, not unlike to a bank w/a car loan. There are several financing companies, some of which, simply being a division of a larger financing/credit agency (Capital One, for example).

A portable exercise bicycle may be just the piece of equipment you need if you’d like to workout at home, but don’t have a lot of room for a big clunky piece of workout gear. There are several models to choose from, and you can get all the features you need for a reasonable price!

A portable exercise bicycle in its simplest form is nothing more than a set of bicycle pedals attached to a frame. In addition, there is a way to increase or reduce the resistance of the pedals, this could be a simple knob all the way up to a fancy electronic/magnetic braking system.

One of the beauties of one of these types of bikes is that you can use it to workout both your lower and upper body. To workout your lower body, place the unit on the floor in front of you, and strap your feet onto the pedals with either Velcro or plastic straps, depending on the type you have. Start pedaling, and if it seems too hard or too easy to pedal, adjust the resistance knob accordingly.

To utilize the upper body workout feature, place the bike on a sturdy table or counter, grab the pedals with your hands, the pedals are especially shaped to fit hands or feet, and start pedaling with your arms. Again, adjust the resistance as needed.

Prices for portable exercise bikes range from around $50 for a no frills unit all the way up to several thousand for a medical grade unit.

A portable exercise bike can be used for aerobic exercise and toning as well as for rehabilitation. They work great for recovery from shoulder surgery, be sure to get a physical therapists ok though.

I am living in California. I just thought that maybe Korean doctors know the asian faces the best and can offer the service at a low cost; but now that I thought carefully about it, the airplane tickets and the hotel room might just add up even with the price i can get here.

Do you know of anyone that does this? Do you recommend any particular doctors or hospitals?

I’m considering going to Korea to get some work done. It is worth the trip. The plane ticket, hotel and surgery costs still come out to less than what I would be paying in North America. I want to get my eyelids and my nose done. Here, I have been quoted $5200 for my eyelids (mine cost more because it’s a revision operation) and another $6000 for my nose. Total is $11200. To fly to Korea and get my surgeries done will cost me around $7000; $6000 for the operation and $1000 for a plane ticket. The clinic I am going to go to provides free accommodation for people that are from outside of Korea. It’s only free until your stitches are taken out. The clinic I’m going to is called BK Dong Yang Plastic Surgery Clinic. Apparently, it’s the biggest and most well known in Korea. I don’t know if that’s true or not…
Here’s the link to their site http://english.bkdy.co.kr/overview/overview.asp
Everything you need, including pricing is all on the site.

Korea has become very well known for plastic surgery. It became really popular with foreigners because it was cheaper to go to Korea and apparently the surgeons and are top notch. There are also MANY people that perform surgeries but are not qualified to. They obviously cost a lot less but it’s not worth the risk.

You should also think about what type of operation you want. If it’s something like eyelids and nose, surgeries that are really common in Korea, then go. If it’s a procedure that is more common for white people, then definitely stay within North America.
Anyway, I hope that helped.

Puerto Vallarta, the sleepy little Mexican fishing village that’s no longer sleepy or little is located at the same latitude as Maui, Hawaii. Being at that latitude, Vallarta experiences the same perfect daily temperatures as Maui from November through May averaging about 73°F. However Vallarta is much more hospitable for vacationing or retirement during those months because it experiences an average monthly rainfall of less than 0.4 inches, whereas Maui receives anywhere from 1.7 to 2.6 inches of rain per month depending upon your location on the island. Additionally, Vallarta is located a short two to four hours from most US cities while Maui is six to ten hours from most mainland US cities.

Now that we know that Vallarta is conveniently located south of the border, we ask; what does this Paradise in the foothills of the Sierra Madres on the Pacific Ocean have to do with the Fountain of Youth? Well, it just so happens that thousands of North Americans that visit Vallarta every year arrive looking pale, wrinkled, obese, and or with dental problems and return home a week or two later looking tan, younger, thinner, and or with clean white and straight teeth!

One might attribute these miraculous conversions during such short vacations to either visiting the Fountain of Youth or if that explanation doesn’t pass muster, to undergoing various modern medical procedures!

Puerto Vallarta is home to three large new fully equipped modern hospitals with a fourth currently under construction as well as numerous high tech dental clinics and the modern Ameri-Med Clinic. Puerto Vallarta is also proud to be the home of some very competent, highly qualified and experienced gastroenterologists, bariatric surgeons, internists, cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons, dental surgeons, etc., many of which have received partial training in the US and virtually all are fluent in English.

It’s common knowledge that for many years, North Americans have headed south of the border for various cosmetic procedures. Not only are they able to have the procedures done and fully recuperate in anonymity but they do so at a fraction of the cost of having them done in the States. Today, there are many excellent plastic surgeons in Vallarta performing liposculptures, face lifts, eyelid surgeries, nose surgeries, breast augmentations, tummy tucks, and approximately 40 other cosmetic and reconstructive procedures on a daily basis.

What is not so well known is that various bariatric procedures are also being performed laparoscopically on a daily basis in Vallarta. These procedures include Roux-en-Y gastric bypasses, gastric sleeve resections, and adjustable gastric “lap” bands. One of the talented local surgeons has performed more than 1,000 such procedures; approximately 40% bypasses, 40% sleeves, and 20% lap bands. (As a side note of interest, this surgeon, with the assistance of another of these talented internists, recently laparoscopically removed the author’s ruptured appendix!)

The costs of these laparoscopic bariatric surgical procedures vary slightly from one to another but on the average are about 2/3 of what they would be in the States. A typical “package” would be about $10,000 US and would include all hospital and doctor charges as well as the flight and accommodations in a fine resort hotel. Yes, that’s right; basically a free vacation in Paradise plus world class medical care for less than the cost back home where all your friends and neighbors can ask questions and watch you recover!

For those of you not familiar with laparoscopy, you may know someone who has had his or her gallbladder removed, had an appendectomy, or had a hernia repaired laparoscopically and was up and around in just a couple days. Thanks to both the skill of the surgeon and advances in technology, laparoscopic techniques, often referred to as minimally invasive techniques, are being applied to a growing number of procedures and someday will likely replace open surgical procedures in many other areas.

The main advantage of this safe new technique is that there is no need for large incisions. Instead, the surgeon operates through the belly button and a couple other small openings about the size of buttonholes, while viewing the patient’s internal organs on a TV monitor using an internal camera. Laparoscopy is setting new standards for patient care because it allows surgeons to perform many operations without the trauma and pain associated with a large incision. Since there are no large incisions to heal, patients have less pain and recover sooner; hence, the cost of laparoscopic procedures are usually substantially less than those with conventional entries because the hospital stays are greatly reduced.

Okay, now that you’ve just shed 100 pounds, had a quick tummy-tuck and perhaps a little liposculpture work, it’s time for some tanning in the warm winter PV sun; after all, the flight and part of the accommodations were included in your “package”! Give yourself a week of rest and relaxation in one of Vallarta’s fitness centers and perhaps then you’ll be ready for a face lift, a breast augmentation, or maybe even a mouthful of straight white teeth!

There are many fine dentists in Vallarta where fillings, root canals, bonding and bleaching are commonplace. There are also a number of highly trained excellent dental surgeons that specialize in caps, crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants, all at a fraction of the cost of the same in the States. Of course, the simple procedures are practiced in the many local dentists’ offices whereas the more complex procedures are done in the more sophisticated clinics and hospitals where they have all of the latest in modern equipment and facilities.

The bottom line is; today’s medical and dental care in Puerto Vallarta is virtually world class and prices are a fraction of those in the US. If elective, non-insured medical procedures are in your plans, you should seriously consider the modern facilities and excellent doctors and dentists in PV. There is not a better place on the planet for recuperating after surgery than in Vallarta during the beautiful winter months of November through May. Upon returning home, your friends will be duly impressed when they see you proudly “strut your stuff”, as you inform them that you rediscovered the Fountain of Youth while vacationing in Paradise!
