I’m researching info about plastic surgery. I like to enhancemy breast, I saw a video from ABC news that many people are traveling to other countries as Costa Rica to save money and they said that they treat you very good, that the doctors are great, etc.
If that is true, how can somebody from US find info before traveling? where can I find a list of doctors, prices etc?

I want to search for more info, BEFORE I decide what to do. So I’m taking my time to investigate.

Is there any place here in USA where the Breast Augmentation is NOT too expesive?
If so, where would be a good place to start looking, any body knows a good site?
Thank you very much for all your responses! =)
Does anybody knows what’s cheaper state for a plastic surgery (breast augmentation)

It is totally true that you can save a lot doing a plastic surgury in costa rica. I did my plastic surgury there and the main hospital ( Hospital Cima San Jose) is amazingly good, clean, and it has very specialized attention when it comes to plastic surgury. Someone answered to this cuestion that they are not real doctors but I guess that no body is going to mess up with someone who doesent have a specialized diploma. You should at least call a doctor in Costa Rica or reaserch more beacause there are many experts who studied in the US or Europe. Doctors there might of studied with the someone that is working here just that they went to different places. One of the main doctors is called Alejandro Lev, you should contact him.

Saline Breast Implants: Top 5 Things to Know

Saline breast implants have been the most common type of implant used in the United States since the ban on silicone implants in 1992. During this time silicone was only used for breast reconstruction and clinical studies, while saline became widely accepted. With the FDA approval of the new silicone breast implants in November 2006, there has again been an increasing trend towards the use of silicone.

There are several reasons, however, why you may still want to consider the saline implant. As you process the difference between saline and silicone, keep this list of things to know in mind:

Top 5 List of things to know about Saline Breast Implants:

1) Rupture. The top benefit women consider about saline is that upon rupture, the solution that leaks into your body is not considered toxic. The saltwater solution is similar to the fluid that makes up most of the humany body. If rupture occurs, deflation will happen rapidly due to the liquid composition.

2) Belly Button Incision. In addition to safety, women who want to opt for belly button breast augmentation will have to choose saline. In order to place the implant using the belly button method (technically known as transumbilical), your plastic surgeon uses an endoscope to slide the implant up through the inside wall of your torso. Since silicone implants cannot be filled upon insertion, the only possible method is to slide the saline implant through the endoscope and fill it with saline after it is placed. Additionally, any of the other incision types will leave a smaller scar than with silicone.

3) Rippling Effect. One of the downsides to saline is that this type of implant typcally has something of a riple effect. Most commonly this occurs in a visible manner in women who have thin skin and very little breast tissue. The wrinkling can be seen on the sides of the breasts, as well as the bottom.

4) Expense. One distinct advantage of saline is that they are as much as a thousand dollars cheaper than the silicone variety. This advantage alone has kept the popular high on this type of implant.

5) Breast Implant Size. Saline implants are infinitely variable in terms of size since the implant is actually filled after it is inserted into the body. Your plastic surgeon will place the empty implant first and then fill the implant to the size that you desire. Most doctors will actually overfill the implant which can aid with the typical pitfall of rupture.

You will, of course, want to thoroughly discuss with your doctor an appropriate breast implant size. As this is the most common reason women go back for second or third surgeries, the choice of size is too often under played. With all the same costs and risks involved in second surgeries, please take your time to thoroughly investigate this decision.

I recommend the use of breast implant sizers to help you choose your size. While it is important to see before and after photos on the internet, nothing can replace the value of actual experience on your own body of various implant sizes. The best way is to actually live with the sizer over a period of at least two weeks. Try on different sizes until you feel comfortable that you have arrived at a size that works well for you and your body.

Saline breast implants are still a popular option in breast augmentation surgery. There are, of course, benefits to all implant types. Talk with your doctor about the benefits of all and make a fully informed decision.

Risks of Breast Augmentation

With more than 300,000 women every year choosing breast augmentation surgery (according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, access to accurate information about the risks of the procedure has become increasingly important.

Breast augmentation has all the same risks as any other type of surgery. The best cosmetic surgeons place a high priority on patient education and will be happy to explain them. Before having your procedure, you will be asked to sign a Patient Consent Form which lists the possible complications. This is a legal requirement, to make sure that you understand what the risks are.

Risks vs. Side Effects

After any surgery there are always some temporary side effects which may be uncomfortable. They can be well-managed if you follow your surgeon’s post-operative instructions. They are in inevitable result of having a surgery, or having the skin incised and something done to the tissue beneath.

Breast augmentation incisions are made at the location you and your cosmetic surgeon decided upon. At that location on each side, there will be scarring and this also is not a complication. It is the body healing itself after surgery.

Immediate Side Effects

In the days following surgery there will be some breast soreness and sensitivity, bruising and swelling. These are not complications. They are inevitable side effects and will resolve by themselves as long as you follow your surgeon’s post-operative instructions.

True Complications

A true complication requires immediate attention beyond what is planned for your follow-up visits or laid out in your post-operative instructions.

· An allergic reaction to the anesthesia can be life-threatening and dealing with it is the responsibility of your anesthesiologist. Whenever general anesthesia is used, your vital signs must be monitored and not until you are determined to be fully awake and alert are you allowed to go home. Because your anesthesiologist monitors you throughout your surgery, he or she will immediately detect any allergic reaction and will take steps to neutralize it.

· Excessive bleeding needs to be stopped

· Infection needs an antibiotic or other treatment

· Blood clots require treatment to prevent them breaking loose, traveling in the blood stream and eventually blocking the lungs (known as a pulmonary embolism)

· A long-term change in the sensitivity of the nipples or skin may or may not be treatable.

Ways to Minimize Breast Augmentation Risks

Your own actions are part of protecting yourself from potential complications.

· Choose your surgeon carefully. Look for board certification and investigate the number of years of experience in this specialty. Read a list of questions to ask surgeons you are considering.

· Check out the facility where you’ll undergo the procedure. Verify the credentials of your anesthesiologist and other personnel involved.

· Tell your doctor about any past or present medical conditions, and about all prescribed or over-the-counter medicines and herbal supplements you are taking.

· Closely follow your surgeon’s instructions before and after your surgery. For example, your doctor may ask you to stop taking certain medications several days prior to or after the procedure.

· Give yourself plenty of time to heal.

As with any surgery, there are many decisions to be made when considering breast augmentation. If you in or near Houston, Texas please visit the website of triple-board-certified, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leo Lapuerta today.

I am going in for breast augmentation in a few months, and I was wondering if anyone who has had implants already could give me some advice. I am leaning towards a trans axillary incision (in the armpit) because I definately do not want the subareolar incision (under the nipple). However, they told me that the armpit incision may cause the implants to be further apart. The other site I was deciding on was inframammary (under the breast in that crease). The only problem is that my breasts are so small that I have no crease right now. If anyone has had the transaxillary incision before, please let me know how the results were. I’m excited but I don’t want to be making the wrong decision.
Okay… I did not ask if it was safe or not. Nor did I want information about medical tourism or plastic surgery in India. :P
I would highly recommend you refer to the My Cosmetic Surgery Blog, it is well written by a women who has been through it all (and some procedures a few times). She gives great and informative insight into what its like to go through the cosmetic surgery process. I just read this article she wrote on choosing the right incision, and found it rather informative, here is the link to the article http://www.mycosmeticsurgeryblog.com/home/breast-augmentation-incision-choices-my-experience.html. She has had the transumbilibal and the areolar incisions, however she has information on the axillary incision as well.

Did your boobs sag after breastfeeding?

I was at least a C cup before I breastfed my daughter, now I’m a very flat B. The tops of my breasts are flat and have no shape. Is this how it usually is? I feel very self conscious now, I’m only 21. Would a breast augmentation be an option, and could I receive one even if I plan to have children later?

It’s more pregnancy that make breasts sag. The rapid expansion that occurs is what causes the skin to stretch.

Im 23 and im having a breast augmentation next month. I was wondering if there is any one of you who did this surgery before. I want to know if there is any pain after the surgery and about the recovery? it takes too long to recover?

I had so much pain after it. I could not lift my arms, get dressed, nothing. It felt like I was repeatably hit in the chest with a baseball bat. I had so much trouble getting up from when I was lying down. I could not open or close car doors. I could barely use the bathroom. This lasted for around 3 days, then I could go over friends places & to the shops. I think I waited around 2 weeks to drive again. Within 3 weeks I was back at work.

Everyone has different pain & from what I understand mine was pretty bad compared to some of my friends. It goes away & it is bearable. I will be getting them done again sometime within the next 6 months. ( I had mine done 7 years ago & now I want to go up a size again) The end result makes it worth it. Good luck.

breast augmentation before pregnancy?

i am wanting to get breast augmentation but i am planning on having kids in the next five years. i currently wear a 32A and can fit into an AA. so yeah im small. but i was wondering if having kids is going to make me bigger. my mom went up a cup size after she had her second child, after breast feeding and everything. and natural is always better. so i was wondering if bc she grew, does that mean that i will after kids? and if i get a boob job before kids, will they still get tube-like?

Everyone is different as far as if they keep the size they gain while pregnant.

Your breasts wouldn’t become "tube-like" but they could still sag lower (this is due to stretching of the muscle).

Something to think about: If you decide to get the implants now, be sure you have them placed so you have the option to breast feed. There is a way they can be inserted where you won’t be able to breast feed.

My suggestion is that you do what I’m doing. Have your children, then get the work done. I have the opposite problem of having been large before pregnancy and gaining 2 cup sizes by the end and keeping it. I plan on having the muscle tightened and my breast tissue moved around to give me a rounder breast.

What size were you after breast Reconstruction?

My wife is having a mastectomy on Thursday (on the left). She is currently a DD. She is having lat dorsi platic reconstruction because she is only 31 and both times we have tried to start a family cancer has popped up and stopped it.

Hopefully after this we can try again in a few years but because of the pregnancy hope in the future the tram or diep flap is out because of stretch risks. The lat dorsi is the next best option but is generally for smaller breasted women.

We know that in 6 months she will have augmentation on the other breast but just wondered what your experiences were with sizing.

What size were you before and then after?

Any other personal expeiences on what to expect would also be helpful.

Thanks very much, your answers mean a lot.

Modeling portfolio now or later?

should i get my modeling portfolio before my breast augmentation or after? The procedure will be in a couple of months. I am not sure if I should start modeling now or after. Is it worth starting now and then redoing my pictures again after the procedure?

From what little I know about modeling, most true portfolios are quite expensive to produce. Since you’re having breast augmentation soon, I would recommend only face shots now, and body shots after your breast augmentation procedure.
