Does breast augmentation have a painful recovery process?

I want to get my breast fixed my right boob is much larger than my left and you can tell. So I am looking into plastic surgery, but I am scared! Help!

well it’s just like any other surgery, it’s going to hurt, especially if you put alot of pressure on it, but i think that if you put a heating pad or something on it, it won’t hurt as bad as it could.

I had a breast augmentation done last friday. Has anyone had this done before? When will the pain finally subside? It hurts soooo bad, that I almost regret getting them done.

Yes it is painful but that’s why your plastic surgeon gives you a prescription for some strong pain medication so TAKE IT!!!! every four hours, or as ordered. You have to maintain a level of medicine in your system in order to keep the pain under control. Pain is like a monster, you must keep it caged, if the monster gets out of its cage it will be hard to catch and control, so keep your pain monster under control with your medicine. The pain should be bearable. The medicine won’t take it away completely, other wise you’d be doing more to soon (activity wise) and you shouldn’t. So just take it easy and do everything your doctor told you to do or not to do.
Good luck.

I’m 58 and thinking about the Lifestyle Lift. I think it will cost several thousand dollars.

I was told about a place in Lewiston, Maine that does boob jobs and let’s you pay something like $50 a month on a payment plan. Does anyone know where that is?

I doubt it, someone probably lied.

There might be boob jobs in Waterville or Portland or something.

I’m guessing no payment plans though.

It can take up to 6 months for all of the swelling to go away, and for the implants to settle. But, if there was any nerve damage, you might not ever have the same level of sensitivity. You’ll just have to wait and see.

Do you think plastic surgery is good or bad?

I think good sometimes bad others. I had my ears pinned back because I had been bullied about it in the past and they knocked my confidence, but now I’m happy. However you see women like Katie Price (Jordan) who were so beautiful before they had surgery but now look a mess. What do you thnk?

I think like most things, it can be good in moderation, but it is easy to go overboard. I had a breast reduction years ago because I had terrible backaches, and I’ve never regretted having it done (the side effect was that people actually talked to my face, not my chest!). And I think there are a lot of people who would develop confidence if they had some element of themselves changed. However, as a woman in my 50s, I’m getting really tired of the magazines showing women in their 60s and 70s, who have clearly had absolutely everything about themselves renovated dozens of times, and telling us that this is what the new 60 or 70 looks like. As a person who could never afford the time, let alone the money, to have all of this done if I wanted to, I feel that they are now selling the same impossible ideals of beauty to older women (and men, for that matter) that they have been selling to young women for decades. Just as I’ll never be 5′9" and stick-thin, I’ll never have a wrinkle-free complexion and a body which I can show off in a bikini again. And it is annoying to have that shown to me as some sort of an "ideal".

I am looking for the best plastic surgeon in Scottsdale or Phoenix for a boob job for my wife. The doctor needs to be board certified and have a proven track record. Any suggestions on who is the best?

Undoubtedly the best plastic surgeon in Scottsdale for breast augmentation is Dr. Shaw. Shaw operates on the "Who’s-Who" and jet-setters of Scottsdale, and for good reason, with over 22 years experience.

He is board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Shaw was voted by his peers as one of the Top Plastic Surgeons of 2008 in Phoenix Magazine and by the readers of Scottsdale Magazine as the Best Plastic Surgeon in Scottsdale. He has also been selected as one of the Best 100 Plastic Surgeons in America.

I loved getting my boobs done by Dr. Shaw. It was a great experience, and his new, upscale and chic office was more like going to a high-end spa rather than a doctor’s office.

I have had masetectomy a year ago and would like to go in for reconstructive breast surgery.

I think you can start with questions like if your doctor is board-certified to do such procedures, show you some before and after photos of his or her previous patients, the risks, and do a computer modeling of you to show you what your own result is likely to look like. I came across this article by Christine Harrell on the questions to ask your breast augmentation surgeon. Maybe the information can help you.

Hi, I am writing a feature on plastic surgery tourism, in other words, people who have shopped around for plastic surgery and decided to go abroad for the procedure for whatever reason (price, recommendation, quicker service, better confidentiality etc). If you have, it would be great if you could contact me. If you know someone who has, could you get them to message me? It’s just a general item about this topic so I could change names, etc. Also, I’d like to hear from anyone who sets up these kinds of trips or any surgeons involved – a long shot but you don’t ask you don’t get!

quite a few people travel to south africa for cheaper plastic surgery. apparently it’s known for skilled surgeons with developing-country rates. they go on safari with bandages, and come back once the scars have healed, claiming that they look younger after a good holiday. there was an article about it last year in the mail&guardian (www.mg.co.za)

you could try the Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of South Africa - maybe they could direct you to some surgeons who’d be willing to talk to you. the number is +27 21 761 6833, and you can call between 10am and 2pm south african time.
